I’ve written in the past about how Marriott is one of the only major hotel groups to offer a lucrative bonus for new members who join their loyalty program and complete qualifying stays.
This promotion has been around for quite a while, but Marriott keeps extending the expiration of the promotion, so I figure it’s worth providing updates on that.
With the latest version of the promotion, new Marriott Bonvoy members can earn a free night certificate after making two paid stays between now and June 28, 2020.
Stays at all participating Marriott and legacy Starwood properties count towards this promotion, and the free night certificate will be valid at hotels costing up to 25,000 points per night (which is the equivalent of a Category 4 hotel in standard season).

The free night certificate will be deposited in the Marriott Bonvoy account after successful completion of the second stay, and will be valid for one year from the date of issue (that expiration date is when you need to stay by, and not just book by).
Let me once again emphasize that this promotion is only for new members, and only those who sign up through this link. If you’re an existing member I wouldn’t recommend signing up for a new account, as there’s a good chance they’ll catch you and cancel both of your accounts. However, if you have a family member or friend who doesn’t have a Marriott Bonvoy account, this could make a lot of sense for them.
If you’re not yet a member, you have several months to make two stays at any of 6,000+ properties around the world, which should be pretty easy.
If you want to further jumpstart your points earning, don’t forget about these credit cards:
I imagine just about every reader has a Marriott Bonvoy account at this point, though is there anyone who at least has a family member or friend or anyone who doesn’t?
